Torrance Refining Company recently sponsored the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce Women of Influence event, which honored the achievements and leadership of six remarkable Torrance businesswomen.

Tara Nierenhausen, Executive Director of Community’s Child, a near neighbor and nonprofit partner to the company was recognized with the Community Catalyst Award. Community’s Child provides local families and their infants with necessary basic needs and resources to help families end poverty.

Torrance Refinery Safety Superintendent Alex Holt, who serves as a Board member for the organization through the Torrance Refinery Management Involvement Program, applauded the selection of Nierenhausen. “I was very happy to learn Tara was being recognized for the important and impactful work she performs for our community,” Holt said. “I know the positive effects of her leadership, which has brought about life-changing results for numerous people throughout the cities of Lomita and Torrance, and our South Bay community.”

Community Relations Manager Barbara Graham, who was the recipient of the Women of Influence Inspirational Leader Award in 2019, opined on the significance of these Torrance Chamber awards, “Being recognized by the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce—in a thriving business community like Torrance—sends a powerful message: Women go beyond participating in our South Bay economy, they are driving our efforts to succeed. Their leadership, innovation, and impact are essential to the strength and future of our business community.”
