Food insecurity remains a key issue for many families in the South Bay, some of whom turn to food pantries for assistance. Recognizing the needs of our less fortunate neighbors, Torrance Refinery recently held a food drive to help restock The Volunteer Center Torrance-South Bay-Long Beach’s Food for Kids program pantry. Employees contributed a whopping 586 pounds of food items to the Trunk & Treat Canned Food Drive in October to help the Center meet their goal of collecting 5,000 pounds of food for this single drive!

Although COVID-19 has hampered event and fundraising opportunities for many nonprofit organizations, our employees remain interested in finding additional ways to give back to the community that hosts the refinery where they work. This event provided an opportunity for employees to add a few extra items to their grocery list, while helping local children and families. The Center’s food pantry welcomes food donations all year.
