Once again, Torrance Refining Company was the presenting sponsor of the YMCA’s 31st annual Kid’s Classic Golf Tournament. This year, the company helped the YMCA reach a major milestone, raising over $1 million over the past six years of sponsorship to send kids to summer camp and fund educational and skill-building youth programs for Torrance youth.

This remarkable result is made possible through the tremendous participation of Torrance Refining’s business partners who support the annual tournament, and employees who golfed and volunteered.

Together, we helped to make this year the most successful fundraiser for the nonprofit! All proceeds from the tournament go directly to providing financial assistance to local children for YMCA youth programs such as Summer Sleep Away Camp, Day Camps, STEM programming, Youth & Government, the Y’s Youth Institute, and more.

Carl Ellett, Torrance Refinery’s Senior Economist and Co-Chair on the YMCA’s Golf Committee, reflected on the tournament’s success saying,As one of the signature community events our company helps sponsor and facilitate each year, we are thankful to have such great engagement and support from our business partners. Like us, they understand the importance of supporting our host community of Torrance and giving local kids educational opportunities to gain experience and learn in a fun environment, which helps all businesses thrive as well.
