Refinery employees, their families and friends gathered in Downtown Torrance to support its community partner, Relay for Life of Torrance, at their Seasons of Hope fundraising event this spring to raise awareness and funds for the American Cancer Society. Led by Community Relations Manager Barbara Graham, the team walked in support of those who have been affected by cancer and to celebrate survivors. This year, the Refinery proudly sponsored the Survivor’s Tent and Kids’ Zone area.
The event was structured like a street fair through downtown as local vendors lined the pathway of the walk, which attracted crowds from greater Torrance into the corridor of downtown’s Sartori Avenue.
Barbara shared why the annual event had special meaning for her, “Unfortunately, I lost my mother and some of my dear friends to cancer. And I know many of the survivors in Torrance who champion this mission to help defeat this horrific disease. I appreciate everyone on our Torrance Refinery team, their family and friends, who joined us to participate and helped to fundraise.”
The refinery team of ranked 15 out of 51 teams in fundraising. Way to go Team Torrance!
