At the Torrance Refinery, Safety is at the heart of everything we do.
We care about the health, safety and well-being of our employees, contractors and neighbors.
Like you, the COVID-19 crisis has impacted every aspect of our daily lives, so we have been actively monitoring the pandemic and its effect on our Refinery family and community.
We recognize the uncertainty and challenges created by this unprecedented public health emergency, and we assure you we are taking proactive, precautionary steps to protect our workforce and the public.
As a key manufacturing facility in the Energy sector, the government considers Torrance Refinery to be part of our nation’s “critical infrastructure,” with an essential workforce providing a vital service – producing transportation fuels our community and state need.
In this role, we continue focusing on operating the refinery safely, reliably and in an environmentally responsible manner, while actively taking steps to protect the health, safety and well-being of our employees, contractors and the public.
Our dedicated team has been closely monitoring The Centers for Disease Control (CDC), World Health Organization (WHO), local and state government and public health officials at all levels and has prepared, tested and implemented a Pandemic Response plan that includes COVID-19 precautions recommended by the CDC.
For example, we have aligned with health authorities’ guidance by minimizing external activities, increasing and enhancing cleaning practices, imposing restrictions on visitors to our facilities, stopping non-essential business travel, encouraging social distancing in the workplace, and implementing work from home schedules for many employees.
We will continue adjusting workplace practices, educating our workforce, and adapting as the response to COVID-19 evolves, using the CDC, WHO, and other expert sources for guidance.
On behalf of our Torrance Refinery Leadership Team, I extend our sincere appreciation to our employees and contractors for their dedication and resilience as we continue to focus on operating safely, reliably and environmentally responsibly during this unprecedented time. We also extend our appreciation to their families and loved ones for their support.
We would also like to thank those on the frontlines of responding to this healthcare crisis. We extend our gratitude specifically to healthcare personnel caring for those who are sick and the grocery and delivery workers who continue to provide for our needs, and everyone else working in essential businesses providing services in our community, especially for those who are most in need at this time.
Our Torrance Refining Company priority remains the safety, health and well-being of our employees, contractors, their families, and our neighbors in the communities where we operate and live. We hope you and yours stay safe and well.
