On January 15, 2018, representatives of the Torrance Refining Company LLC (TORC) participated in the first annual Beacon House Association Golf Tournament. As a major sponsor of the event, TORC helped raise funds for important recovery services that help adult men suffering from alcohol and drug addiction.
The Beacon House is located in San Pedro, CA and is a 115 bed, highly structured nonprofit treatment facility. During the last year, the Beacon House contributed nearly 24,000 hours of community service in nearby communities, and it maintains an annual success rate of 84% for the men who graduate the primary program. Upon successful completion of the initial program, clients have the opportunity to enter phase two, which enables them to pursue educational and vocational goals while still receiving care. The majority of men that remain in phase two successfully leave the Beacon House with college degrees and/or careers.
