Torrance Refining Company LLC (TORC) was proud to partner with Seaside Elementary School once again in the Torrance school’s annual Veterans Day Assembly on November 9, 2018. Seaside’s students led a wonderful program to thank for their service several dozen veterans who attended the event, many of whom were relatives of the students.

During the assembly, the students presented the histories of each military branch, thanked and heard from the veterans, and sang patriotic songs, including the military’s five service songs: “Anchors Aweigh” for the U.S. Navy; “The Caissons Go Rolling Along” for the U.S. Army; “The Wild Blue Yonder” for the U.S. Air Force; “The Marines’ Hymn” for the U.S. Marine Corps; and “Semper Paratus” for the U.S. Coast Guard.

Refinery volunteers providing event support

TORC employees, including several veterans, volunteered to help set up and support the event. TORC is grateful for our nation’s veterans, appreciates their sacrificial service to our country, and is proud to employ many veterans.

 

During the assembly, TORC Community Relations Advisor, Brandon Matson, thanks Seaside Elementary students for leading a wonderful event. Brandon served as a Captain in the U.S. Army Infantry and in the Army Reserve after active duty. Seated to his left is TORC Engineer Becky Jensen who is a Technical Sergeant in the Air National Guard, and seated to his right is TORC Human Resources Advisor Elias Zamora who served as a Personnel Specialist in the U.S. Navy.
