Torrance Refining Company was honored to receive the James R. Armstrong Community Leadership Award for its exemplary contributions to support education and the city.
Community Relations Advisor Gesuina Lafayette, who accepted the Award on behalf of the company stated, “More than a recognition of our company’s efforts — this Award is a celebration of the collaboration we share with every refinery employee and contractor, volunteer, parent, educator and community member, who shares our commitment to education.”
Torrance Education Foundation President and former City of Torrance Mayor Patrick Furey presented the award at the organization’s annual fundraiser attended by Torrance School District administrators, elected officials and community leaders. The award recognizes TORC for demonstrating its deep commitment to education and community in Torrance since owning and acquiring the Torrance Refinery in 2016.
Furey shared, “Torrance Refining Company’s support does not just mean funding – the Torrance Refinery and its professional staff of employees also lend its collective expertise as advisors and volunteers ensuring a better community.”
