The Torrance Refinery Emergency Response team extended its appreciation to the City of Torrance Fire Department (TFD), Torrance Refinery Fire Department (TORC FD) and Air Products team for participating in a joint emergency response drill. The exercise simulated an equipment failure and subsequent release in the Hydrogen Plant, providing both teams with a valuable opportunity to practice coordinated response actions.
The drill highlighted strong collaboration between the TORC FD and TFD. Key performance strengths included:
- Efficient deployment of apparatus
- Effective initial fire suppression tactics
- Proper use of refinery water systems and equipment
Mutual-aid exercises like this are essential to maintaining a high level of readiness and ensuring that both departments can respond safely, effectively, and collaboratively to protect workers, the community, the environment and the facility. The drill was a clear success, and we look forward to continuing our joint training efforts in 2026.
